The Begur police busted a gang of six people including two women who were honey trapping men on the pretext of offering escort service and blackmail them to extort money.
The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar,37, cloth merchant from T Narasipura in Mysuru, Shivashankar,50,goods vehicle driver from Bytarayanapura,Girish Gangenahalli,36,office assistant with an advocate officer at Tumakuru and Ramamurthy, 37,from Rajajinagar.
The identity of the two women has not been disclosed .
Senior officer said,the accused would advertise in dating app offering escort service to lure men and blackmail them by recording their vidoes and extort money.
Using the same modus Operandi the accused trapped Srinivasalu Reddy,39, a private firm employee and invited him to their house.
The accused then video recorded the private movement and the accused who were waiting for the opportunity barged into the house and recovered the video and blackmailed him .
The accused later forced him to call his friends to transfer Rs.2.9 lakh and Rs.10,000 he transferred to their account online.
The accused threatened to post the video on social media if he revealed this to anyone .
Initially Reddy was scared but later he decided to approach the police and file complaint.Based on the complaint,the police track down the gang and arrested them.
The police are now probing further to ascertain the gang criminal background.
