Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said necessary instructions will be given to install the 108-tall statue of Basavanna on the bank of Ghataprabha with a view to making it an international tourism spot.

Speaking after performing puja for the construction of the Basavanna statue at Tinasukatte in Basaveshwara Circle and other development works here on Wednesday,he said it was happy that the statue of Basavanna has been established in Belagavi.

The preachings of the 12th-century social reformer have become part and parcel of their lives.Basavanna showed ‘Sanmarga’ nearly 900 years ago,and started the ‘Anubhava Mantap’ on the lines of the present-day Parliament.

Issues that were discussed in the Mantap are relevant now also as they had opposed inequality, gender equality, blind beliefs, and bad practices.

Basavanna will be relevant as long as they will get clarity on these issues in society. The work of following the preachings of Basavanna must happen.

The CM said the country has history but it requires character. There is confrontation but they require coordination.

The philosophy of Basavanna will inspire everyone to bring social changes and thinking.

KLE Institutions Working President Prabhakar Kore, MLAs Lakshmi Hebbalkar,Abhay Patil, and others were present.
