The High Grounds police have registered a case of cheating and criminal breach of trust against a city based IT firm for allegedly cheating the prison department with substandard computers .
Based on a complaint filed by Pradeep Gunti, Superintendent of Prisons,the High Grounds police on Friday registered a case against,Managing Director Vagmina Enterprises from Madhava Nagar.
In his complaint,Mr.Gunti said that the prison department had called tenders for supplying 125 computers for 37 prisons across the state .
The contract was given to Vagmina for quoting the lowest price and as per the deal, a total sum of Rs. 92,81,250 was sanctioned to supply 125 desktops .
The fraud came to light when the audit team checked around 44 computers to find that 43 out of them were sub standard and not branded,while seven of them were defunct.
Mr Gunti said this has resulted in huge loss to the state exchequer and sought legal action against the company said a senior officer.
