Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has arrived in the country for the first time after four years.

Islamabad: President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif (Nawaz Sharif) has stepped on home soil for the first time after four years. Sharif, who is facing court proceedings in various cases, has been staying in London for the past four years. Sharif recently arrived in Dubai with family members and senior party leaders from London via Saudi Arabia and left for Pakistan in a special chartered flight. On reaching Islamabad, he was welcomed by party leaders and activists.

Pakistan is currently facing a severe economic and political crisis. Sharif’s main rival, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, is in jail. On the other hand, the Election Commission has decided to hold elections in January 2024. In this background, Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan has become a priority. It is known that Nawaz Sharif is staying in London for better treatment while serving the sentence in the disproportionate assets case.

On the other hand, there are reports that Nawaz came back to his country because of a flawed compromise with the Pakistan Army. There are many legal and political challenges brewing for Nawaz, who is facing court cases. Islamabad High Court has granted anticipatory bail to him till 24th of this month in Avenfield and Al Azizia corruption cases. The anti-corruption court canceled the arrest warrant against him in the Toshakhana and vehicles case till the same date. With these assurances, it is reported that Nawaz was able to set foot in Pakistan without fear of arrest.
